School Break Camps
GRANT AWARD ENABLES PARKS AND RECREATION TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL FALL CAMP AT FAIRMONT PARK
Last month the Parks and Recreation Department announced that, due to state-level budget cuts, only one Fall Break camp would be held, at City Park. This week, Spalding County received $1,000 in grant funds from District Four Adolescent Health and Youth Development Program which has made it possible to hold a second camp at Fairmont Park.
Space for these camps will be very limited. Each site will serve no more than 30 children, ages 5 and over. Families are strongly urged to pre-register their child for this very popular program. Spaces will go fast!Registrations for fall camp will be accepted at the Parks and Recreation Main office, City Park and Fairmont Park Community Centers. Camp hours will be 8:00am to 5:00pm October 10-14, 2011.
This one-time special grant provided funding for Fall Break camp only and will not be available for the winter and spring breaks. Parents are urged to consider this as they plan for childcare for the remainder of the school year. Children will need to bring a sack lunch.
