2010 Summer Food Program

Summer Food ProgramEach year Spalding County Parks and Recreation invests its energy and resources to provide Spalding County low income children with nutritious meals while school is not in session. A grant is applied for annually through the USDA which pays for the food. We have participated in this program for many years and consider it a necessary part of what we do for our citizens. Our program enables our community centers, Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, Community Ministries, and area churches and apartment complexes to keep children healthy. More than 20,000 meals are served to children each summer through this program.

Volunteers, community partners, and a very dedicated staff help make this a very successful program in Spalding County. For information on this program please call Kelly Leger, Recreation Superintendent, or Belindell Adams, Program Monitor, at 770-467-4750.
